Who we are

Hi there!

I’m Debbie, I’m an executive assistant by day, blogger and aspiring online entrepreneur by night, and always learning something new. I live in Metro Atlanta, have a lot of hobbies, but alas, too little time.

It’s really weird how I love Spanish (language, music, food, culture), and at the same time (being half Asian) I also love Asian food & culture. Imagine how torn I felt in my 30s, living in the USA, speaking English & Spanish. Talking about identity crisis! I had to do some soul searching and read lots of books to find myself. The conclusion was that I’m a global citizen, traveling this world temporarily. Totally cool with that!

In my 30s, I joined two local universities, earned a bachelor’s in Spanish, and certification in translations to start my own translation business. Then I discovered the online world and all the opportunities it offered… so I dove in and have been learning and teaching myself ever since. From blogging to  web design, Affiliate Marketing to SEO, virtual assistance to ecommerce, and now AI. I’m a geek, and I have to admit, that the extra income from my side businesses has not been bad. When I decide to retire from my full-time job, I know that I’ll be able to supplement my income as needed. This, is empowering! And I hope I can inspire you to do something for yourself too.

Following my eternal thirst for knowledge, I picked up crochet a few years ago, learning from YouTube videos and written patterns how to make headbands, scarves, etc. My mom is incredibly creative and I must have it from her, because she used to crochet and was a seamstress too. She taught me how to sew and I’ve even worked on two wedding dresses! I love paper crafts (cards and scrapbooking), and writing (ask me when I have time for all of this!).

There is just something about letting the creative juices flow that brings me to my happy place. That’s why I love to dance, cook and read fiction too. One other thing to add is traveling, learning about other countries, their history and culture. I’ve been to the Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Caribbean, Chile, France, Panama, but I have many more on my bucket list. Places like Spain (of course), Portugal, Colombia (Cartagena), Argentina, Brazil and Thailand, where I can soak up more culture (and food).

More than 30 years ago we moved from Suriname to the U.S. and when we saw the natural beauty of Metro Atlanta, Georgia, we got hooked and never left. We may never leave since we are surrounded by my family, which includes four sons, their lovely wives and 16 grandkids. Yes, that makes for a very busy family life, but we enjoy every minute of family madness, especially during the holidays.
