Start a blog
What is a blog?
A blog is a website, similar to an online journal, that includes chronological entries made by individuals. The word ‘blog’ was derived from the combination of the words ‘web’ and ‘log’. Blogs typically focus on a specific subject (economy, entertainment news, etc.) and provide users with forums (or a comment area) to talk about each posting. Many people use blogs as they would a personal journal or diary.

How do you start a blog?
To start a blog, you need:
- A web hosting account. Web hosting is the service that makes your blog available on the internet. An account is a collection of data associated with a particular user. Each account includes a user name and password and defines a security access level. The web host we recommend is Blue host (affiliate link), because they provide great support when needed. Another plus is that one domain name is included with hosting.
- A domain name, which is the name of your blog, like google.com
- WordPress, which is a website creation tool, can be installed as soon as you have a web hosting account
- An email address, because the login information and instructions will be mailed to you.
Next we’ll explain the steps you have to take to start the blog.
