Girls day out, feed your friendship

In my friend, I find a second self. ~ Isabel Norton

One day my friend Trini called, sounding “frazzled”, and my first thought was: she needs to get away from everything! We should go do some fun, girly stuff!!  Not that we’re the type that would get together to paint our toenails, do facials or even go shopping, instead we’re completely happy to do lunch and chat up a storm.

Even though she is younger, we have so much in common, so much to talk about that we could fill a whole weekend without ever getting bored. So right then I suggested, to take a day or half a day off to go on a garden tour at a resort out of town. We both love flowers, beautiful gardens and having lunch at a fun place sounded like a great idea, so we quickly agreed on a date and planned on visiting Barnsley Gardens.

Unfortunately, life “got in the way” with other commitments so we had to change our plans and opted for lunch instead, at a new Mexican sports grille/bar.  As soon as we met, we started chatting and totally forgot time and place. At the end, the waitress returned 10 minutes after bringing dessert (flan), asking how we liked it, only to see that we had not even touched it!  Some chatty chicks!! 😆

You see, I believe there are friends for different purposes, but apparently, it is more of a woman-thing. It seems that guys have friends who all share the same thing, from sports to opinions and politics. We know and accept that not all our friends share the same ideas and passions. I have a foodie friend, a dance friend, a life-experience friend, and then there is Tini, probably the only person in my circle of friends, who totally understands my entrepreneurial dreams and plans. When we start talking, the ideas flow freely and if we would get paid for all the ideas we discussed, we would be millionaire women by now! Alas, we’re still working on the execution, because dreams and ideas don’t mean anything unless you take action. And “pesky” life gets in the way sometimes. :-S

I don’t see Tini very often, and we don’t even talk on the phone every week, but we’re the kind of friends who, when we get together, can talk endlessly about things that inspire and motivate us. I’m really happy to have her in my life because she is funny, smart, and has tons of great ideas for business, marketing and personal life. One of her strengths is to make me forget I had a bad day and after talking to her, I’m always bubbling with excitement to try out some of the ideas we brainstormed and continue working on my plans. I hope you have a great friend like her too. Be sure to take time and foster your friendship!
